In May, 1986, two night watchmen witnessed the apparition of a "Lady in White" hovering over a piano in the third floor lounge of this hotel.

They believed that this apparition belonged to Percie Knowles, the wife of the man who built the hotel in 1900.

Only her upper body materialized, and for several minutes she stared directly at the two guards, giving them enough time to grab a camera from a nearby table and snap a photograph.

Other guests had reported her ghostly apparition, but this was the first time the Lady in White had ever been photographed.

However, only a small white spot was seen in the developed picture where she had been.

In 1990, two more watchmen witnessed what appeared to be the same apparition in the lobby and then followed her to room 349 - the same room in which many employees and guests have reported her presence.

Other oddities to be found at this site include an old rocker that turns to face a window regardless of how many times it is re-placed or what room it is in, and an old family Bible on a wooden bench in the attic that is always open but mysteriously never collects dust.

Percie died in 1941 but if you ask employees or former guests of this resort, they will relate that her spirit lives on.
