Reverend Baldur Vilhelmsson, former parish

priest and vicar at Vatnsfjordur in Isafjardardjup,

once phoned one of his parishioners, Mr. Ari

Sigurjonsson, farmer at Thufur, and began by asking

if there were any new tidings. This took place at

springtime when the weather was particularly bad.

Farmer Ari was tired and hadn’t slept that night

and so replied crankily:

"It looks as if the Devil himself has taken

control over the weather."

The Reverend was quick to reply and said:

"That hardly surprises me, my good man. I’ve

been warning you about him for years."
