Silent Church Choir

Reverend Gunnar Bjornsson, who formerly

tended to the parish at Holt, is very fond of Psalm

no. 333,

Send us now, Father, your Spirit. The

Reverend wanted to have that psalm sung in

nearly every church service, not least because of

the melody to which it was set.

The first time that Reverend Gunnar chose

this psalm for a service in the Church at Holar in

Bolungarvik, during the time when he was

responsible for that parish, there were some

murmurings from the church choir, because the

people had never sung that particular psalm

before. The organist, Ms. Sigridur J. Nordkvist,

called Sigga Noa, who possessed great skill in

dealing with people, then looked over the choir

with a serious look on her face and said quitly but

firmly:

"Just sing it quietly and in silence."

Reverend Gunnar Bjornsson.
