Dr. Olafur Olafsson, former Medical Director of Health for all of Iceland, would sometimes substitute for district medical officers in the country when this became necessary. One time Dr. Olafur filled in for the district medical officer at Þingeyri for a few weeks. Mr. Andres Gudmundsson, farmer at Brekka in Dyrafjordur, came to see the Medical Director at the doctor’s office because he was feeling a bit under the weather. The year before, his namesake Andres Gudmundsson from Sveinseyri in Dyrafjordur had died. Dr. Olafur rummaged through medical files in a filing cabinet and finally took one out. A few moments later he suddenly looks up from the file, runs an investigative eye over Andrés and asks sharply: "Aren’t you dead?"Resurrection in Dyrafjordur
