Lasi was known to have a way with words like
many other people from the West Fjords. On his
first day aboard ship he began to clean every nook
and cranny of the galley, as cleanliness was very
important to him. In the late afternoon he had
nearly finished cleaning and was bent over
washing the floor under the steps when someone
treads on his back.
Lasi was startled and swore profusely, invoking
hellfire and damnation and let fly many other
oaths besides.
The man who had come down the stairs then
says:
"Easy now, don’t you know who you’re talking
to? I’m the captain."
"Just making conversation", replies Lasi.

Once the famous cook Lasi kokkur signed on as
