The filthy smoke goes throughout the house
making it utterly impossible for him to concentrate, whilst she´s at home with a bloody cigarette between her lips. She hardly ever leaves the house, except when she visits Skula-store in the next street, Lyngholt to buy necessaries such as her tobacco.
She became unemployed, when the fish-factory she´d started working for had to close down because of financial-diffusion.
On her miserly unemployment compensation they had had to support themselves lately.
Still the son refuses going outside to find work, for as he has told her he´s much too educated in supernatural knowledge for working as a labourer.
But how is he able to profit from it?
He won´t be able to live endlessly on his mum´s low compensation like some parasite.
Jon has tried asking his dad for some financial assistance, but because Jon senior hasn´t any
understanding on his son´s idleness, the son´s beggings are all in vain. Their situation gets worse, when collection letters for loans the senior had taken by pledging the house, which still is on his name, start to pile up in their letter box.
Her ex´s true nature is actually reflected, when
he just laughs in her face, when she beseechs him to pay these debts. When the first announcement about a bankruptcy auction arrives she collapses.
