    Louis XlV's Other Number

The eighteenth century adventurer Cagliostro is said to have used the Chaldean system of numerology to forecast the deaths of both Louis XlV and his wife Marie Antoinette. The prediction was made at a gathering in Paris (some accounts say it was a dinner party of aristocrats, others a meeting of Freemasons). Having found the king's number, Cagliostro said it showed that the king would lose his on the scaffold before his 39th year (he was guillotined with his wife in 1793, aged 39). Cagliostro further corectly predicted that Marie Antoinette's 'number' showed she would meet a premature death through beheading following a term in prison and starvation. Louis XlV came to the throne in 1643, which equals 14 (1+6+4+3), single digit 5 (1+4). He died in 1715, another 14, or 5, at the age of 77...

    Change Your Fortune

Being dogged by a particular number is not as inevitable as it sounds; changing your name can change your circumstances. This can be either deliberately or inadvertently done, such as a person becoming known by a title, as we have seen. The Bible has a number of examples of name changes which led to a change in circumstances in a person's life: Abram to Abraham, Sarai to Sarah (God promised Abraham that she would have a son after her name was changed: Genesis 17: 15-16), Simon to Peter. Eileen Whittaker says that in the courses she runs on numerology at least half the class change their name once they have gained sufficient insights into the power of the subject.

How many times do people accept, or find themselves pushed into, a major job or task which others believe to be beyond their abilities? Harry Truman is a perfect example.

He did not want to be US president. He did not believe he was capable of doing the job. As Roy Jenkins says in his biography of Truman, he had none of the style of his predecessor, Roosevelt, none of his prestige, none of his grandeur...yet, as 'president' Truman, among his achievements was the more difficult feat of being the leader of the free world of peace... Once he got into his stride, Truman's emerging abilities were found to be remarkable and many observers believe he ended up a better president than Roosevelt.

    Character Readings

To return to our 'test case' John Lennon, let's see what numerologists say about the broad character of 'nines' as opposed to the more specific assessments based on vowel of consonant numbers. The following comments are compiled from five separate numerologists. Nines are struggling to hold the lid on a volcano of anger and irritation... Often the life-pattern consists of stretches of smooth self control, broken by fits of rage and anger... Very few live and die in the same place they ere born... A leaning towards philosophy and teaching... Greatest danger comes from their impulsiveness and foolhardiness... Good at organizing large functions... Make good leaders... Often involved in events that are larger than life... Have an important message to give the world... Respond to people, atmosphere, environment, colour and music... In some capacity nines are in the public eye.. .An entertainer... Know love is too great an experience to be limited to one person or one family or group...A high degree of creativity (the nine Muses) and spiritual achievement... Visionaries and poets at their best wildly volatile at their worst, given to intense romanticism...

Even those with a passing interest in the man who was such a phenomenal presence in twentieth-century music would recognize the descriptions above as forming an accurate portrayal of the complex character that was John Lennon. Yet the marvel is that they were not specifically written as such, but as descriptions of a 'nine' character in numerological terms.

    Sandberg's ll

Poet Carl Sandberg had a thing about the number ll. He told the New York Times in a 1967 interview that he would die at an age that would be multiple of this number.

    - I had 2 great-grandfathers and a grandfather who died in years divisible by 11 and if I won't die at 88, I'll go on to 99, he said at the age of 80.

Like J. Lennon and relatively speaking he just missed out on what he believed the fates had in store for him. He reached 89 then died a few months later.

    Schoenberg's 13

Another artist who believed his death was predetermined by his birth date was the Austrian composer Arnold Schoenberg.

Born on 13 September 1874, he believed he would die on the thirteenth day of the month. S. noted for his originating of the 12-note technique, further believed that as the numbers 7 and 6 make 13, he would die at the age of 76. He died 13 min. before midnight on Friday, 13 July 1951. His age 76.

Number 17, Your Time is up

King John lll of Poland was born on 17 June. It was also the date on which he ascended the throne, the date on which he married and the date on which he died.
