    Twins of course have most chances of being involved in coincidences between themselves. But Chris and Christine Mikhael and their family have been more than surprised at the co. that have occurred so far in their young lives, especially by the sudden prediction made by their motherwhen their all-important Higher School Certificate examination reports arrived at their home on 11 Jan 1989.

    Before they had a chance to open the envelopes their mother said: -I bet you'll score the same. Moments later her prediction was proved correct. Given the broad range of marks all the numbers of people involved in crediting them, the result can only be considered highly coincidental. Had they come within a few points of one another it would have been remarkable.

    C and C were born within half an hour of one another in 1970. Both attended the same school; Chris was captain and Christine was vice-captain. In 1986 the 2 had been scalded by oil, in different locations but at the same time of day, he while on a camping holiday and she while filling in for him at his part-time job at a takeaway food bar. Chris says he and his sister often have the same thoughts: -I'll say something and she will say, -I was just thinking of that.

 

    Brysons at Brown

    Warren Weaver, the mathematician who was an expert on probability theory, told the story of a neighbour, one George D. Bryson who was on his way to St. Louis by train when he decided on a whim to stop en route at Louisville, Kentucky, since he had never been there. At the station he asked for the leading hotel and was sent to the Brown Hotel. After registering and still in a whimsical mood he stopped at the mail desk and asked if there was any mail for him. The clerk calmly handed him a letter addressed to 'Mr George D. Bryson, Toom 307'. The name was correct as was the room number. It turned out that the previous resident of the room had indeed been another G.D.B. who came originally from N-Carolina.

    Despite relating this anecdote Weaver never believed there was anything special about coincidences.

 

    Love Seat

    The office chair at the Cardiff Arts marketing office looked innocent enough. But 4 salesgirls who sat in it during 1987 became pregnant. One of the chair's victims, Anya Tinsley said, -I thought nothing of the chair when I started work, then fond myself pregnant almost straight away. Our male colleague will be allowed to keep the seat from now on-it can't do him any harm.

 

    Mystery Run

    Author/journalist Malcolm Andrews was editing his book on great sporting heroes and had reluctantly decided to omit a passing mention of Alby Thomas, a former world 3 mile record holder, for space purposes. Having done so he took a break, turned on theTV news and on the screen came Alby, whom Andrews had not seen for 15 years. Later in the evening he was continuing work on the book and had just reached his reference to Craig Johnstone, the Liverpool player, when from the radio came Johnstone's voice in an advertisement.
