The Rules
"When we first met," he began, "I thought you sang like a sheep with constipation."
Between coughs - she had just taken a sip of her wine - she managed to ask, "Is that something you learned in your farm labouring days? How constipated sheep sing?"
Actually &" he hesitated. "No, I've already revealed one secret. It's now time to hear one of yours."
They had tossed a dice to decide who took first turn in the game. He had thrown a six against her meagre two.
Her calm eyes rested on his face. "I can catch up later. Tell me what you were going to say. What's your next secret?"
"I don't have a cousin in Pembrokeshire, and I've never helped on a farm in my life. I made up that story. "She waited for him to say more. "I was in prison," he admitted.

The Solar Youthamatic

Parovich Hamen peered at the solar density/mass scanner.
He turned to Mantorgan.
"You left this way too late y' know."
Mantorgan, the Elder of the planet Ka'or, which orbited the star known as Ke'mor, was quite hurt by this accusation. Requiring great effort to make his mouth, which was shaped like two bananas stuck together, speak a Human language, he retorted: "We on'y came into contact with a'ien 'ife forms 'ast week."
"That's no excuse. Do you realise your sun will go nova in less than two Ka'or years! It's very dangerous to leave it that late," He scolded.

Gulorformed

Zeerok stepped out of the lander onto the barren red soil and drove the flag into the ground.
"I claim this planet on behalf of the Gulorgat nation," said he, proudly, "and I name this place ‘Snickers’."
"Bravo," said his second in command, Fuzz, who was munching on a chocolate bar. "Let’s get terraforming then."
"Now I don’t believe we particularly want Snickers to have an environment like that of Terra Firma, now do we?" cautioned Zeerok.
"Okay," said Fuzz, "let’s get gulorforming, then!"
And that’s exactly what they did.

Forced Sell-Out
Herman Monstag considered this for a second.
"Down eighty points. Are you sure?"
"I'm positive," came the reply.
This was from his stockbroker, James Norwood. "You have no option but to sell your shares now, before you're completely bankrupt."
The shares to which they were referring were government shares. The more shares you owned the more say you had about government business (new laws, taxes etc.).
The person who owned the most shares would be the head of the Earth's board of directors. It was almost certain that these shares would always increase in value, irrespective of anything else that happened anywhere in the world.

'GAMBIT'
Elbows resting on the table, chin settling on the cradle of clenched fists. Face now pressed against the toughened glass, peering along the slowly curving corridor in anticipation. A corridor just wide enough for a large metal ball to pass through. Some say it's made of solid gold, but maybe it's just gold plated.
I pick up the binoculars in front of me and have a look around the table. On a clear day I can see for miles along each length of the delicately arching table, but today visibility is poor, maybe a mile or so. To keep track of the table I've picked out people I use as landmarks. One in particular stands out; he sits half a mile or so to the west.

ALIEN 8

It was a wet afternoon in early July when the spaceship landed on the White-House lawn.
Considering the lack of forewarning it was amazing how fast the televised images were beamed around the world - and this time the American Government was powerless to prevent the usual cover-up.
That afternoon saw the biggest viewing figures for any televised event in history. Cities all around the world came to a grinding halt.
Factories from Russia to Tasmania were abandoned as the loyal workers left their workplaces to head for the nearest television.

The Philadelphia Experiment
The Philadelphia Experiment

For those who are unfamiliar, the Philadelphia Experiment was an alleged 1943 attempt by the US Military to render a military ship invisible to enemy warships - which yielded some very unexpected results.
Simply stated, the story goes that in 1943 as the result of a wartime research experiment, the newly commissioned destroyer, the USS Eldridge, disappeared in a green mist from a port in Philadelphia, reappeared briefly in Norfolk, Virginia - disappeared again, and eventually ...

Dimensional Concept
Dimensional Concept

We all know that we live in a 3D world, but have you ever stopped to think about what that really means?
We know that physicists are looking hard at the possibility of other dimensions, and most believe that other dimensions HAVE to exist to fully explain what they theorize.
Many also believe that there have to be at least 10 higher dimensions and maybe lots more - but maybe less too.
Unfortunately, at this point we don't know conclusively how many other dimensions exist, and to make it worse, we can't normally perceive any of it because of the limitations of our own 3D existence.
We know that in this

Other Dimensions
Other Dimensions

The idea of another dimension - or MORE than one other dimension - has been theorized for many years, and is a cornerstone of many religions.
Indeed, even Albert Einstein speculated about the possibility of the existence of a parallel universe.
A scientific article entitled "The Universe's Unseen Dimensions," released in August, 2000, postulates that we may actually have scientific proof of other dimensions within the next 10 years!
Proof such as this will not only rock the scientific community, but will undoubtedly also shed new light on many currently unexplainable paranormal events.

'What's that noise?'
Science fiction

Slowing finding his way out of a deep sleep, Robert was greatly irritated by the annoying whirrrrr of what sounded like a small motor or something.
When the sound subsided, he would drift back into the peace of a profound sleep, but then that damned sound would start whirring away again - bringing him to that level of consciousness where one doesn't really know if one is asleep or not.
