Do I think that this kind of UFO commercialism cheapens the UFO mystery?

No I do not….and I see absolutely nothing wrong in Shag Harbour using its fame in the world of UFOlogy to attract visitors. It’s what Roswell has been doing for decades.

The fact that a place like Shag Harbour can make money for itself from its encounter with a UFO does not, in my view, cheapen the mystery and, in fact, it could be argued that by consciously using the incident to attract visitors to the area, it is actually keeping the whole UFO issue “real” and in the public domain where it needs to be.

Numerous places have “cashed in” on the UFO phenomenon over the years but it hasn’t diminished world-wide interest in the UFO phenomenon one litte bit.

If commercialisation of the UFO phenomenon was putting people off, interest in the phenomenon would have died out ages ago.

Good luck to Shag Harbour is what I say on the matter…

I just wish I was able to go and see the place for myself!!!

Mike, I agree. If a fishing village can make a little extra money for its community (as fishing bounties are diminishing, today) that’s fine. I agree that if it keeps the public interested in the UFO phenomenon; that’s good, too. It’s not cheapening the event, itself.

I wonder if locations notorious for UFO incidents, such as Sag Harbour, that use the incident as an economic opportunity to make money catch the eye of the governments (local and maybe even national) that have jurisdictions over these towns and cities? I mean, if governments (even if they’re just local)find inecentive in providing more information to the public because it brings tourists and dollars; maybe there would more more research centers or museums dedicated to UFO incidents? The potential to earn money can make any topic serious to officials! Along this line of thinking - perhaps the all-mighty-dollar would encourage physicists, astronomers, university science researchers, if not government officials, too, to get involved, if not provide more credability, cutting edge research, official records or reports, and support to UFO research? Such is the potential power of the dollar in a free market society…we’ll see.

I’ve seen three ufo’s at three seperate times. One was in the millitary me and another private. The most clear one that I seen was in Wilberforce , Ohio 5:00am. this one was a UFO passenger plane, I seen about 15 windows in my eye site.It was a saucer shape with a tail behind it with one red light, not blinking. I am an artist and I can draw what I seen. I was happy at first, but, then I got scared because I was by myself. It was close so that there was no doubt.

America was built on capitalism, so I don’t think there’s any problem with this Canadian village doing this. I’m sure some will be turned off by it if it does become too tawdry. There might be other places nearby that take advantage of that by offering a more elegant experience.
