Operation Beaked Whale
Earlier this week a few tourists on board a whale-watching boat from Húsavík witnessed a spectacular event, but not unique, when they saw several killer whales attacking a beaked whale and kill it in a 15 minutes time.
The Event
found its way to the backsides of newspapers because of the show it turned out to be and that the tourists were startled. It has been heard in the business of whale-watching that from now on all the tourists will want to see more than usual. Now people will of course want to see a killer whale killing a beaked whale.
this kind of event arouses a few questions about the perservation of animals. Now the friends of the whales must be feeling bad. Because eventhough humans will stop the killing of animals, animals will not stop killing each other. This can often be seen in the animal kingdom. Falcons kill mice, chitas all kinds of animals, hippopotamusses kill humans, bears humans, hyenas gnus, cats birds and now as a few people have witnessed, killer whales beaked whales. This fact is something the animal lovers must have forgotten. What says Mr.Paul Watson now? Will the killer whales be put on a black list? Will there be a new declaration?
will be seen. This article aroused a lot of talk. In an article on the paper's back the event gets described just as if the killer whales were "organised" and that they obviously were "thorough killer whales". They were obviously not any weaklings. Some say they have tattoos. The talk about organised crimes amongst humans had effect on the article about the killing. Obviously there was some clique operating here. Having arrived in Iceland for the main purpose of causing panic, kill and eat. One can visualise the leader killer whale up front, perhabs Keiko's secret son, giving instructions with his fins and tail, as the hooligans come closer to the innocent beaked whale: "You three turn right, you four left and you five straight on," whispered the Son of Keiko. "We'll attack when I say BOOOO."
is something to think about. If organised crime has spread around in the animals kingdom the question is whether we humans must take matters into our own hands. I am quite certain that somewhere in the burocracy there is some burocrat who wants to do something about the problem.
